Elwyn, Kenny and Clarence Herendeen started this business when they came back from WWII. When Herendeens started in Shortsville they were located behind what is now Sidetrack Bar and Resteraunt. Furnaces and boilers used to come in by train. Train was the primary mode of transportation then and the adjoining town of Manchester was once the largest train switching yard in the world. In the early 1950's the brothers decided they needed more space and moved into what is now their current building at 32 West Main Street. For over 50 years Herendeen's in addition to serving HVAC, plumbing and electrical needs, was full scale hardware store. We used to carry Benjamin Moore paints, Stanley, Makita and various other tools. In 2009, we decided to invest in the building and a couple of rentals we own and abandon the hardware and concentrate on serving HVAC, plumbing and electrical needs of the area. Today Herendeens is owned and operated by 2nd genration owner Roger Herendeen. 3rd generation, Jonathan Herendeen manages operations and helps techs.
